For over two decades, I’ve been known as “The Machine”. I am third most decorated and consistent darts player in the world and in the history of darts. I’ve lifted 11 major titles, landed multiple nine darters and stood across the oche with some of the greatest legends and newcomers of the game.
But I didn’t just arrive here — it’s been a journey of talent, graft, and a fair bit of turbo-charged left-handed stubbornness.
I was born in Aldershot, England, a town known for its strong military heritage and close-knit community. Growing up in Aldershot, I was surrounded by a culture of discipline and resilience—qualities that have shaped both in my personal character and my approach to darts.
From a young age, I shown a natural affinity for precision and focus, traits that served me well in the game of darts. Before turning professional, I worked as a mechanic, a job that taught me patience, attention to detail, and the value of hard work—lessons he carried into my sporting career.
I turned professional in 2001 and quickly established myself as a formidable competitor on the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) circuit. My nickname, “The Machine,” reflects my methodical style, relentless consistency, and ability to deliver under pressure.
Family
Family is everything to me. I’m lucky to have an incredible support system at home that keeps me grounded no matter what’s happening on the darts circuit.
I married my amazing wife, Sammi, in 2015. She’s been more than just my partner — she’s my rock. Having her by my side makes all the difference, whether it’s handling the pressures of competition or celebrating the wins.
We’re proud parents to two beautiful boys: Arthur, born in 2018, and Alfie, who arrived in 2022. Becoming a dad has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Holding Arthur for the first time completely changed my perspective and gave me a new sense of purpose, both personally and professionally.
Being away on the road isn’t always easy, but knowing my family is there waiting for me is the motivation I need to keep pushing forward. They’re my rock, and I dedicate everything I do to them.
Off the Oche
Outside of darts, I’ve got a couple of passions that really help me unwind and stay grounded — fishing and mechanics.
Fishing has always been something I’ve loved since I was a kid. There’s something really peaceful about being out by the water, waiting for that bite, just enjoying the quiet and the outdoors. It’s a great way to clear my head, especially after the pressure of tournaments. I’ve even taken part in some charity fishing events, which makes the hobby even more rewarding — combining something I enjoy with giving back.
Mechanics is another big part of my life. Before darts took over, I worked as a mechanic, and I still find it satisfying to get my hands dirty fixing things or tinkering in the garage. It’s all about problem-solving and attention to detail — skills that actually cross over to my game. Plus, helping out friends, family, or key workers with their cars whenever I can is something I’m proud of.
Both fishing and mechanics remind me of where I come from and keep me balanced. They’re my way to relax, recharge, and stay connected to the real world beyond the oche.
